Emergency’s or Urgent care are always a priority at Dove Pet Hospital. Our hospital is open from 7AM to 6 PM Mon. thru Fri. And 9AM to Noon on Sat. Although we are closed on Sunday, a doctor is on call to see our Dove Pet Hospital established patients after hours until 10:00 PM and on Sundays from 7AM to 10:00PM by calling 949-294-8194 or call the hospital for this emergency number.

Among the services available in our Emergency and Critical Care Unit are in-house blood work, digital X-rays, oxygen, emergency surgery, and critical care monitoring.

These are a few typical conditions that usually require emergency or urgent medical attention and may threaten your pet’s life if not treated:

Medical Emergencies

	Injured - hit by car, hurt by another animal, fallen from great height
	In Pain - Pet is crying out
	Lethargic or non-responsive - Cannot stand or move, not responding to voice of touch
	Lumps Lumps that are growing rapidly or start bleeding
	Trouble urinating Straining or painful urination
	Weight Loss Dramatic or unexplained weight loss over a short period of time; not eating

Medical Emergencies (continued)

	Bleeding from any part of the body, or in the feces or urine
	Coughing - Severe, persistent coughing or choking sounds
	Diarrhea or vomiting - continued or severe diarrhea or vomiting
	Difficulty giving birth
	Eye injury - redness, swelling, squinting, discharge
	Ingested toxin, poison or foreign object - any household or garden chemical, chocolate, human medicine, swallowed rocks, bones, sharp objects, cloth material, string, etc.

Please use care when handling your pet if he or she has been injured. We encourage you to call us at 949-294-8194 before coming in so that we can prepare for your arrival.

When you arrive at DPH, your pet will immediately be triaged so that we may determine his or her stability. If your pet needs to be hospitalized, the admitting veterinarian will discuss with you the proposed treatment plan.
